If I were...

My dear sister's health is getting worse and I may lose her.
She lives in another country, far away. I can't go to see her just yet.

I started thinking...what would I say about her?
Sadly, I realized...I don't know her as well as I would have liked.

With the 12-year difference and the thousands of miles between us,
I guess I never took the time to really,
really know who she is, what she likes, what ticks her off,
what makes her happy, or inspires her.
Almost immediately, I remembered the sweetest post by
the Duchess of Tea (whom I love) here.
She gave us a glimpse about herself with a creative "if I were..." poem.

I want my children and my friends to know about me so they never have to wonder.
So here's the first installment about me:

If I were a color, I would be turquoise
If I were a season, I would be fall
If I were a flower, I would be a simple white tulip
If I were a place, I would be Tuscany

If I were an instrument, I would be a cello
If I were a spice, I would be nutmeg
If I were a tree, I would be a quacking Aspen
If I were a time of the day, I would be 7:30 am

If I were an herb, I would be rosemary
If I were a fruit, I would be a mango
If I were a dessert, I would be Tiramisu
If I were a moment, I would be a snapshot of my loved ones' smiles

If I could be anyone in this world, I would still be me.
I would live my life exactly the same just to get to feel the happiness I feel today.

Remember to share who you are with those around you.
Enjoy the time you are given with your loved ones.

Much love,

  1. Silvia, that was very beautiful...thank you. I know how you feel about your sister. There are 9 years separating me from my only sibling and she lives on the other side of Australia, which might as well be another country it's so far away. I was thinking about how little we know each other just this morning, so selfishly, it was nice for me to read that I'm not alone with that. I do hope that your sister's health improves and that you have the chance to connect with her in some way. xx

  26. Oh! Silvia darling I am so sorry about your sister. Having lost a loved one I know how difficult this time can be and then add to it the estrangement and that makes it even worse. I have three sisters, two older and one younger. My oldest sister and I have 15 years age diffenrence and then 12 with the second one, so I know what you mean about the age difference. I will pray for your sister darling and I will pray for you. We all need someone to pray for us, and for you that will be me, it will be my pleasure. If you ever find that you need to talk to someone, you know where to find me, I will always be here for you and darling, I love you too my friend. Stay strong, you are not alone.

Sending you parcels of hugs all wrapped with love.

    Duchess
